Kakerdaja is less visited than Viru and feels wilder for it. The boardwalk crosses open bog to a small bog lake where people swim on warm evenings.

The water in bog lakes is dark and cold even in July. The bottom is soft peat, so swimmers use the wooden steps rather than wading in.

The observation tower faces west, which makes it the best of these trails for sunset. Bring a head torch for the walk back.

If you swim, rinse off afterwards: bog water is acidic and leaves skin feeling dry.
